Instead of chaotic clues, neural networks will now be monitored constantly.

IBM withdrew on the global market, the Bob platform, which should turn AI assistants for programmers from a tool for experimenting into a more managed part of corporate development. The company does not rely on full autonomy, but on a scenario where algorithms take on routine problems, but the key decisions remain for a person.

Bob helps to write and check the code at different stages of development. IBM claims that the platform has already passed a large-scale internal run-in: in the summer of 2025, about 100 employees worked with it, and now the number of users within the company exceeded 80 thousand. According to IBM, individual teams saved up to 70% of the time on the selected tasks, which on average gave about 10 hours a week.

The main feature of Bob is the built-in checkpoints. The platform divides the work process in advance into stages with different roles, and AI agents regularly request confirmation from the employee. Such an approach should reduce the risk of errors, simplify the audit and help companies understand where exactly automation interfered with the development.

The system supports several models, including IBM’s Granite, Claude from Anthropic, French Mistral solutions, and small distilled models. Fully open models like Alibaba Qwen are not included in the list. IBM promotes Bob as a routing platform between models, not as a product tied to a single AI provider.

IBM’s general manager for automation and AI Neil Sundares explained in a conversation with reporters that not only the capabilities of the model are important for corporate development. According to him, the result depends on how the system is deployed, how the context works and how much a person retains control over the process.

There are already tools on the market that give developers more freedom to work with agents. Cursor, Claude Code and LangGpach allow you to build chains and debug complex scenarios, and more autonomous systems attract companies with flexibility. IBM has chosen a different accent – predictability, manageability and verifiable task.

Bob is already available in all regions where IBM operates. For users, a trial period for 30 days, a Pro tariff for $ 20 per month, Pro+ for $ 60 and Ultra for $200. Expenses are considered in the internal units of Bobcoins: one Bobcoin is $ 0.5. The corporate rate is sold through the sales department and includes centralized command management, limit distribution and usage control panel.
