The new version develops an unidentifierless messenger and makes decentralized communication more convenient for mass use.
SimpleX Chat has released version 6.5. The main change was the public channels through which authors will be able to broadcast without reference to phone numbers, user names or other regular identifiers. The project emphasizes that SimpleX builds a network around time unidirectional SMP queues, individual for each connection, not around accounts or global identifiers.
Developers separately stipulate an important nuance. The content of the public channels is visible to repeat operators, and the channels themselves use several repeaters so that one node can not single-handedly block the channel. At the same time, the identities of owners and subscribers are not disclosed to either operators or other participants, or the network. This approach protects not the secret of the public text, but the privacy of participation.
In SimpleX Chat 6.5, channel owners themselves store channel keys, publishers can run their own repeaters, and channels can be added to the SimpleX Directory catalog. The release also includes a simplified connection of new users, previewing links only after the user’s consent, support for SOCKS proxy for such views, protection against phishing hyperlinks and removing tracking from links.
