Unitree has rekindled interest in "robops" and revealed a new As2 model. In a short announcement at X, the company positions As2 as a "compact companion" with "industrial capabilities" and clearly aims not at toys, but at tasks where endurance and load capacity are needed.According to Unitree, the As2 accelerates faster than 5 m/s and produces about 90 Nm of maximum torque in the joints. The robot itself weighs about 18 kg with a battery, and it has a high load capacity: in static mode, the As2 is able to hold up to 65 kg, and when walking, it can carry about 15 kg. To move through the "human" infrastructure, the manufacturer indicates climbing steps up to 25 cm and confidently working on slopes up to about 40 °.With autonomy, Unitree also tries to speak the language of practice. Without load, the As2 must run for more than four hours and travel over 20 km, with a load of more than 2.5 hours and more than 13 km. On the model page, the IP54 protection level against dust and splashes is marked separately, as well as support for an open ecosystem for secondary development, so that the robot fits into research and application projects without "soldered" firmware.
