While the streets are sinking in Hong Kong, KazChess and Dragon Chilling tramp competitors on boards.

The first game day of the FIDE Rapid Team Championship immediately turned the tournament into a race without the right to a quiet start. After four rounds, the maximum result was retained only by KazChess and Dragon Chilling, and almost all the main favorites have already managed to lose the match, writes Chess.com.
KazChess finished the day on the first line in additional indicators. The Kazakhstan team began with a victory of 4:2 over the Chongqing Kylin Chess Club, although Shakhriyar Mammadyarov and Alexander Grishchuk limited to anyone with the players who lost about 300 points of the rating. The decisive advantage was brought by Kazybek Nogerbek and Aldiyar Ansat, who won on the third and fourth boards, reports FIDE.
Next, KazChess passed three strong checks in a row. The team beat Sky Chess with a score of 4.5:1.5, then defeated Uzbekistan with Javoirir Sindarov and Nodirbek Abdusattorov, and in the fourth round coped with Chessgurukul. ChessBase separately distinguishes the match with Uzbekistan: Richard Rapport and Shahriyar Mammadyarov won against Sindarov and Abdusattorov in one team meeting.
Dragon Chilling also took eight match points out of eight, but lost to KazChess in additional indicators. The Chinese team is led by Ding Liren, and with him the current world champion among women Ji Wenju also plays for the composition. The day for Dyna was uneven: a draw in the first round, victory in the second, another draw in the third and defeat in the fourth.
The most painful party of Dean came to meet with Nikolaos Theodore. The Chinese grandmaster played black, made a mistake in a difficult position and lost, but Dragon Chilling still won the match 4:2. Chess.com notes another important episode of the same team: Yu Yangi continued the endgame, where the draw has already brought a team victory, and brought the game to win on the 133 th move.
The two leaders are Mr Birdie and Friends. The team scored seven match points and took sole third place after the first day. ChessBase celebrates not only the strong top boards with Vladislav Artemyev and Sam Sevan, but also the result of Evander Lyane, who ended the day with 4 of 4 on the lower boards.
WR Chess started the tournament with a confident victory of 5:1, but already in the second round he lost to Chesnut Nova. Magnus Carlsen made a draw with Raunak Sadvani, Fabiano Caruana won his game, but the defeat of Jan-Krishtof Duda and Alexandra Goryachkina turned the meeting around. ChessBase adds that WR Chess could save the match on the amateur board, but Vadim Rosenstein missed the winning opportunities against Tim Letre.
Hexamind had an even tougher day. The second number of the starting list lost two matches: first Chessgurukul, then Sky Chess. In the third round, Pragnandha R. beat Alireza Firouzha, and in the fourth Anish Giri did not hold the decisive game against Andrew Hong. After four rounds, Hexamind was only on the 18-th line, follows from the table Chess-Results.
The current champion Team MGD1 also lost points before expected. Singapore’s Team International Trading beat the Indian squad in the third round after Nihal Sarin’s mistake at the end against Rinat Dzhumabayev. ChessBase India calls the match one of the main apsets of the day.
The Indian edition also highlights two personal stories of the first day. Mongolian chess player Sumy Bilguun beat Pragnanandha after the victim of quality in the debut, and Vishi Anand saved a draw against 17-year-old Ilamparti AR in the position that the opponent could bring to victory.
A separate line of the first day was received by Hans Niemann. Endgame.AI lost one match, but Niemann became the only player among the participants of the top teams who completed the first four rounds with a score of 4 of 4 on the first board, writes Chess.com.
The second game day immediately received a central pair: KazChess vs. Dragon Chilling. The fifth round is also to meet Mr Birdie and Friends and WR Chess, Endgame.AI and Uzbekistan, Team MGD1 and Chessnut Nova, Sky Chess and Chessgurukul, according to Chess-Results.
The organizers of the second day also faced with a weather problem. On the official server of the results there was a warning about the black signal of the downpour in Hong Kong: the tournament should go on schedule, and the audience was advised to think about security and remain in hiding. In the Hong Kong system, a black signal means heavy rain with the risk of serious flooding and transport failures, the Hong Kong Observatory explains.
After the first day, the table looks much denser than expected before the start. KazChess and Dragon Chilling are in the lead with eight points, Mr Birdie and Friends follows from the family, and several contenders for the title have already lost their strength. The fifth round should show who will withstand the direct check of the leaders, and who will have to catch up without the ideal result.
